Warrior Christians

February 5, 2008

Ok, if you were paying attention on Sunday you would have heard Greg make a lot of references to fighting.  He said that Christians should be fighters.  What did he mean?  Doesn’t this make us just like violent Islam?  What happened to “turn the other cheek?”

Imprecatory?

October 1, 2007

This next question deals with what is commonly called the imprecatory Psalms.  Imprecatory Pslams are those Psalms wherein the author calls down curses upon his enemies.  Take Psalm 69 for example.  David explicitly prays, “Add guilt to their guilt; do not let them share in Your righteousness.  Let them be erased from the book of [...]

Wanna challenge?

September 21, 2007

For those of you looking for a difficult challenge, Greg has been posting ethical dilemmas on his blog.  I would encourage you to interact with his blog for now until I get another blog up.  Try answering his latest one “11 babies in 2 boats.”  What would you do?

Sorry Mormons, we’re not gods (an answer to the previous post).

August 9, 2007

In this passage (John 10:34-38) Jesus is answering the Jew’s objections to Jesus making Himself “out to be God.”  Jesus had just said “I and the Father are one,” prompting the Jews to pick up stones and show Him their disapproval of what he just said.  Jesus reminds them of a passage in Psalm 82 [...]

You are gods?

July 12, 2007

Books like The Secret become popular because they tell mankind that they are their own god.  This sounds very similar to a promise made by a serpent in the Garden of Eden: “For God knows that from the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing [...]

Apologize, part 2

June 11, 2007

Ok folks.  Same guy, different argument.  What will be your defense and how will you share the gospel with this man?
To conservative hell believing Christians who tell me they love me and want me to convert
To look forward to heaven in the belief that non-Christians will be in hell is to tacitly admit that you can [...]

Apologize!

June 4, 2007

Ok, we’re taking a new approach.  Now you all get to do some Scripture searching and some faith-defending.  I’ll give you some real challenges by real people against Christianity.  Christians apologize!!! (make a defense, not say “I’m sorry”)

This is from a writer who has a whole website devoted to discrediting Christianity and telling [...]

Ok, what’s the deal with sacrifices?

May 9, 2007

Next, we will seek to understand the religious laws of ancient
Israel.  These laws include the sacrifices, holy days, cleanliness laws, and dietary restrictions found in the first five books of the Old Testament.  Do these laws really mean that we have to kill and burn animals to God?  Should we order our steaks well done?  [...]

Capital Punishment? Seems a bit harsh.

May 7, 2007

The next law we will examine prescribes the punishment for a stubborn and rebellious son.  This law could fall under the category of family laws.  This law obviously identifies disobedience, rebellion, drunkenness, and gluttony (21:18-21) as sins which should not be overlooked.  After the capital punishment is prescribed, Moses explains that this kind of punishment [...]

Answer (the beginning of one, at least)

May 2, 2007

I’ll get to another question soon, don’t worry.
Ok folks, here is my attempt.  To understand how the Old Testament (and the laws contained therein) applies to us in 21st century America, there are a number of steps that must be taken.  We must first understand how the law was understood in its own context.  God [...]
